AI Notice

Last updated: 19 August 2026

Hermeno uses several automated and AI-assisted services to support language-learning features.

Depending on the feature being used, the following technologies may be used:

  • automated text recognition from images (OCR);
  • automated translation;
  • vocabulary extraction and identification;
  • explanations;
  • example sentences;
  • vocabulary enrichment;
  • quiz generation.

Google Cloud Translation may be used for automated translation, particularly when corresponding content is not already available in the Hermeno dictionary or an existing translation cache.

Google Gemini may be used for OCR-assisted functions, additional AI-assisted learning features, and vocabulary enrichment.

User-provided text, words, and, where applicable, images may be transmitted to the external service required for the relevant function.

Translation results may be stored in a shared cache and reused for subsequent requests. This can reduce repeated external processing, improve response times, and reduce resource consumption.

Stored translation results may subsequently be processed automatically for further vocabulary enrichment. This processing may take place asynchronously and may process multiple words together.

Different processing steps may use different technical services. In particular, the use of automated translation does not necessarily mean that the content is processed by a generative AI model.

AI-generated and automatically generated content may occasionally be incomplete, inaccurate, outdated, or unsuitable for a particular context. It is provided as a learning aid and should not be treated as professional, legal, medical, financial, or other expert advice.

AI-generated vocabulary suggestions from imported text are presented to the user before being added to the personal vocabulary collection. Users remain in control of which items are saved.

Users should review AI-generated translations, explanations, examples, and quiz content before relying on them.

For further information about the processing of personal data, please see the Hermeno Privacy Policy.

AI Credits and Learning Rewards

Some AI-assisted or external-provider operations may be governed by free daily allowances and/or AI-credit costs. The applicable values are centrally configured and may be adjusted as Hermeno's services and operating costs evolve.

Users may earn credits through qualifying learning activity. The current model rewards eligible vocabulary-review progress and qualifying quiz completion, subject to daily limits.

Hermeno may also offer optional rewarded advertising as a secondary way to obtain credits. Watching an advertisement is not required merely to use the core learning interface, and Hermeno does not grant credits for app-store ratings or reviews, passive screen time, or simply opening the application.

Production rewarded advertising must remain disabled until the production advertising and server-side reward-verification requirements have been completed.
