About Hermeno
Hermeno is a language-learning application focused on personal vocabulary, intelligent review, dictionary and translation tools, text and image import, quizzes, progress tracking and C1 exam practice.
Main features
Hermeno currently provides:
- personal vocabulary management and smart review;
- dictionary lookup and translation;
- German pronunciation for supported dictionary entries;
- text import and OCR extraction from images;
- vocabulary extraction from imported material;
- quizzes for personal practice;
- quizzes that can be sent to other learners;
- quiz filtering by available CEFR level and domain;
- quiz results, created quizzes, received quizzes and leaderboard information where applicable;
- C1 reading, writing and speaking practice;
- interactive AI Live Speaking practice;
- daily learning reminders and progress tracking.
Vocabulary and review
Save German words to your personal vocabulary and review items that are due.
Hermeno tracks learning progress so vocabulary can be practised repeatedly over time.
Dictionary and translation
Dictionary results can include information such as:
- meanings and translations;
- German noun articles and plurals;
- part of speech;
- CEFR level;
- domains and usage information;
- example sentences, when available.
German pronunciation can be played for supported entries.
Translation supports the available language directions in Hermeno. The app may warn you when entered text appears not to match the selected source language.
Text and OCR import
You can paste text or import an image.
Hermeno can:
- extract text from images;
- analyse imported text;
- identify useful vocabulary and examples;
- allow selected vocabulary to be saved to your personal list.
Quizzes
Hermeno supports two main quiz workflows.
Practice for yourself
Create a quiz from eligible saved vocabulary for your own practice.
Random quizzes can use available CEFR and domain filters to narrow the vocabulary used for the quiz.
Send to another learner
A quiz can also be created and sent to another Hermeno learner.
Search for the learner by username, select the recipient and create the quiz. Received quizzes appear in the recipient's Quiz area.
Quiz attempts and scores can be reviewed under the results area. Created and received quizzes are available in their corresponding sections.
C1 exam practice
Hermeno provides C1-oriented practice for:
- reading;
- writing;
- speaking.
Speaking practice includes presentation and discussion exercises, model content and listening difficulty options.
AI Live Speaking
AI Live Speaking provides an interactive spoken practice session around a selected topic.
The live exercise uses a visible 6-minute countdown to support a focused C1-style conversation practice session.
AI-generated or AI-assisted content is intended as learning support and may contain inaccuracies. Important information should be reviewed before relying on it.
App and documentation languages
The Hermeno application interface is available in:
- English;
- German;
- Ukrainian.
Hermeno documentation is currently provided in:
- English;
- German.
When the application interface is set to Ukrainian, in-app documentation is shown in English.
The public Hermeno website and its public documentation are provided in English and German.
Account access
Hermeno provides account-related functions for:
- email verification;
- password reset;
- account recovery;
- account deletion.
Account deletion
Users can initiate account deletion directly inside the Hermeno application.
If account deletion cannot be completed in the app, contact support using the email address below.
